 ルカ8:22-25「ある日のこと、イエスは弟子たちと舟に乗り、彼らに言われた。「湖の向こう岸に渡ろう。」そこで彼らは舟を出した。
舟で進んでいる間に、イエスは眠っておられた。すると突風が湖に吹き下ろしてきて、舟は水をかぶり、危険になった。弟子たちは近寄ってイエスを起こし、「先生、先生、私たちは死にそうです」と言った。するとイエスは起き上がり、風と荒波を叱られた。すると、静まり返り、なぎになった。イエスは彼らに言われた。「あなたがたの信仰はどこにあるのですか。」彼らは恐れ驚きながら互いに言った。
「この方は、いったいどなたなのだろう。風と水とを命じられると、その言うことを聞くとは。」

 

詩篇 46:1-3「神はわれらの避け所、また力。苦しむとき、そこにある助け。それゆえ、われらは恐れない。たとい地が変わり、山々が海の真中に移ろうとも、たといその水が立ち騒ぎ、泡立ち、その高ぶるさまで山々が揺れ動こうとも。

1.イエスキリスト は嵐の中でも平安をくれる

ピリピ人への手紙 4:6-7「何も思い煩わないで、あらゆる場合に、感謝をもってささげる祈りと願いによって、あなたがたの願い事を神に知っていただきなさい。
そうすれば、すべての理解を超えた神の平安が、あなたがたの心と思いを、キリスト・イエスにあって守ってくれます。」

2.試練は私たちを成長させる

ヤコブの手紙 1:2-3「私の兄弟たち。さまざまな試練に会うときは、それをこの上もない喜びと思いなさい。あなたがたが知っているとおり、信仰が試されると忍耐が生じます。」

Luke 8:22-25 (NIV)
One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”
He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.
In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”

Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV)
God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging. 

Point One: Jesus offers us peace even in the midst of storms.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Point Two: Storms help us grow.

James 1:2-3 (NIV)
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
